She initiated the Arts and Cultural Affairs Office within the University of Rijeka in 2012, designing and coordinating study programs and productions with a focus on career and audience development while opening various forms of international cultural cooperation. In 2013 as part the city of Rijeka nomination for the European Capital of Culture, Daniela created the first cultural capacity building program in Croatia, Unicult2020, the International Arts & Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Programme, an intensive course designed for cultural producers, workers and researchers from Europe and beyond. She graduated psychology at the Pace University, New York. In 2004 she founded the “Doors Art Foundation" in the New York City, where as an artistic director, she produced programmes promoting Croatian culture and art scene to the international audience. At present, Daniela Urem works on several cultural platforms, on cultural development and policies projects, actively participates in capacity building, university-related projects and advocates intercultural dialogue, cooperation and exchange. Her work bridges the worlds of science and art, design and technology, academic research and industry. She co-founded Stromatolite Design Innovation Lab in 2000, developing futures concepts for international clients including Apple, Nike and Nokia - stromatolite.com. Her practice-based Ph.D. research investigated music interpretation systems and led to her co-authoring Sonaris, an innovative music search technology, as well as launching the Open Product Licenses, enabling design by attribution. Michela directed MIReS.cc, investigating the future of music technology with seven top European research centres. She founded the global Music Tech Fest - musictechfest.org, which brings music industry, SMEs, innovators and researchers under one roof. Her work has received the 'art meets science' NEM art award twice, several TSB and EU FP7 awards, and was selected for the exhibition showcasing the best of British innovation at the Science Museum during the London Olympics. Art director, creative consultant and artist graduated from Brown University with a degree in History of Art and Architecture, she pursued courses at the Film Academy FAMU and Applied Arts Academy UMPRUM of Prague and graduate studies at the European Institute of Design IED in Milan, Italy. In the years that followed she worked in a number of institutions from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to Cinecitta Film Studios in Rome. She has experience in a variety of creative fields from curating to documentary filmmaking, gallery work and art dealing. For years Gaella traveled the world working and collaborating with local communities in Africa, Europe and Asia doing projects that worked on traditional crafts to sustainable design, to using art as a means of empowerment. She was director of the Croatian Association of Artists in Zagreb (HDLU) from 2010-2014, where she created new programs such as Artomat unconventional art fair, Upcycling Festival, and Art for All projects to promote cultural entrepreneurship, ecological awareness, innovation and social inclusion. Since 2015 she has been working for the City of Dubrovnik, as creative consultant for their ECoC bid for 2020 and currently as Art Director of the Lazareti complex (1-5) where she has created the foundations for a multidisciplinary art, science and community space. Her innovative and socially aware programs have gotten her various awards: National prize for Innovation in the Arts for Artomat (DKI 2013), EU Grant for Cultural Managers (Eunic 2013) and was the recipient of the Global Ambassadors Fellowship by Vital Voices for emerging female leaders Belfast, Ireland (2014). She is the author of 15 books and more than 150 essays, translated in 17 languages. Dragicevic Sesic is a civil society activistm board member of NGOs (Center for Cultural decontamination, B92 Fund, Creative mentorship, Smart collective, Dragan Klaic fund) offering her support to the development of numerous others in the region, India, Lebanon, Egypt, Cambodia, etc. She works as an expert in cultural policy and management for the EU, European Cultural Foundation, the Council of Europe, UNESCO. In his research the study of the human body and its transformations prevails through the extreme exploration of human corporeity. Metamorphosis is a key concept in Fabre’s body of work, in which human and animal life are in constant interaction. He studied at the Municipal Institute of Decorative Arts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. A kinsman of the famous entomologist Jean-Henry Fabre, he became attracted to the study of nature at a very young age and developed a true passion for the sciences, entomology in particular. The use of insects is a distinctive feature of his work where man, nature, and their mutual relations are his favorite themes. The beetle, an animal that appears frequently in his work, is a symbol of metamorphosis for Fabre: «Beetles are characterized by both an incredible instinct to death and a vitality, that enables them to change their physical features. After several stages of development, their body suddenly stops growing, to be born again and start with a new form […]. It is a kind of passage, that bears the promise of a new and better life in itself. In my research about the nature of future man, I’m inspired by beetles’ evolution, behavior and features» (Achille Bonito Oliva interviews Jan Fabre, 2008). Some of these works are: Beekeeper (1998-99), Strategy Field (Waterloo) (1998), Gravetomb (swords, skulls and crosses) (2000) and A Tribute to Belgian Congo (2010-2011). In 2007 she participated in establishing of the European Fund for Balkans where she was the executive director for more than a decade. Hedvig studied law and communications when she became an activist as a member of a student organization and of numerous NGOs dealing with interethnic relations, promoting education and cross-border cooperation. She joined the student protests against the Milosevic regime in Serbia and she was part of the group that created the only festival in the world born out of protest – the EXIT Festival in Novi Sad. She committed herself to regional cooperation in helping the Balkans to raise from the years of conflicts. Hedvig is author and initiator of a number of outreach and advocacy initiatives including the innovative and creative regional campaign for the abolishment of visa regime between the EU and Balkan countries, using such unconventional tools as literature, video games, and festivals. As the director of the European Fund for Balkans, with her team, she created and executed highly impactful programs focused on democratization and European integrations. Hedvig is a founding member of the Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group, the only regional Think-Tank bridging the policy debates between the Balkans and the European Union. Hedvig Morvai currently serves on the boards of the Center for Advanced Studies in Rijeka, the Creative Cultural Alliance and the Share Foundation. She is Council member of the European Council on Foreign Relations, member of the Epos Network and the Serbian-American Women’s Leadership Network and a team member of the EU Master Module in Art, Science, and Technology. He was born in 1943 in Solingen, Germany. Ulay was formally trained as a photographer, and between 1968 and 1971, he worked extensively as a consultant for Polaroid. In the early period of his artistic activity (1968-1976) he undertook a thematic search for understandings of the notions of identity and the body on both the personal and communal levels, mainly through series of Polaroid photographs, aphorisms and intimate performances. At that time, Ulay's photographic approach was becoming increasingly performative and resulted in performative photography (Fototot, 1976). Later, in the late stage of his early work, performative tendencies within the medium of photography were transformed completely into the medium of performance and actions (There Is a Criminal Touch to Art, 1976). From 1976 to 1988, he collaborated with Marina Abramović on numerous performances; their work focused on questioning perceived masculine and feminine traits and pushing the physical limits of the body (Relation Works). After the break with Marina, Ulay focused on photography, addressing the position of the marginalised individual in contemporary society and re-examining the problem of nationalism and its symbols (Berlin Afterimages, 1994-1995). Nevertheless, although he was working primarily in photography, he remained connected to the question of the 'performative', which resulted in his constant 'provocation' of audiences through the realisation of numerous performances, workshops and lecture-performances. In recent years, Ulay is mostly engaged in projects and artistic initiatives that raise awareness, enhance understanding and appreciation of, and respect for, water (Earth Water Catalogue, 2012). Ulay's work, as well as his collaborative work with Marina Abramović, is featured in many collections of major art institutions around the world such as: Stedejlik Museum Amsterdam; Centre Pompidou Paris; Museum of Modern Art New York… After four decades of living and working in Amsterdam, several long-term artistic projects in India, Australia and China, and a professorship of Performance and New Media Art at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe in Germany, Ulay currently lives and works in Amsterdam and Ljubljana, Slovenia. Although widely and deservedly acclaimed at the time, Szajner afterwards abandoned music for two decades, and as a result his music lapsed into relative obscurity. For connoisseurs, however, Szajner remains a leading exponent of his chosen genre. The first Szajner album, Visions of Dune, was released in 1979 and credited to the group name Zed. Inspired by the Frank Herbert sci-fi novel Dune, the album featured a stellar cast of guest musicians including Hahn Rowe, Klaus Basquiz, Colin Swinburne, Clement Bailly and Annanka Rachel. In July 1981, Szajner performed with the laser harp at the Festival de la Science Fiction et de l’Imaginaire in Metz. Szajner also expanded on the limitations of contemporary synthesizer technology. ‘ Szajner chose another radical departure for his third album, Superficial Music, released in December 1981. The first side featured four tracks of so-called ‘superficial music’ compiled from source tapes for Visions of Dune, played backwards at half speed, and enhanced only by sparing use of analog and digital effects. These new CD reissues of Some Deaths Take Forever and Superficial Music serve to reintroduce two important musical works, and include previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded in 1982, and inspired by The Hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll. Slaven Tolj is one of the most important artists of the Croatian art scene. His radical and minimalist practice, which encompasses performances, photographs, and ready-made situations and objects, often deals with specific social facts and historical events. At his beginnings, in the nineties, his work focused on the situation of his own country, i.e. the disintegration of Yugoslavia and especially the siege of Dubrovnik, his hometown. Her doctoral thesis focused on how international integration affects national cultural policies. She also completed a year-long program at Croatia's Diplomatic Academy and took courses at Université Paris-Dauphine. Nina works as a researcher at the Institute for Development and International Relations in Zagreb, focusing on cultural and media policy as well as European studies. She has published books and articles in Croatian and international journals and has worked as an expert on projects for organizations like UNESCO and the European Parliament. In 2004, she won the European Cultural Policy Research Award for her work on how EU enlargement affects cultural policies. She has held various positions in the Croatian Ministry of Culture, including State Secretary (2008-2011) and Assistant Minister (2006-2008). He studied and wrote books on youth musical protest movements and the long-term effects of music education in public schools. Spent several years teaching and doing research in American universities. Returning to Hungary before the regime change he organized samizdat publications including publishing the minutes of the transition parliament before the first free elections. Between 1990 and 2014 he fulfilled various top management positions at Gallup Organization in the US and in Europe leading a number of global research projects. As a professor at the College of Europe, developed a course to understand European social trends using survey and other data. During the summers he organize local musical events in Croatia and in the winters makes every effort to be present in his village council meetings in Hungary where he was elected as the Vice Mayor. During her tenure as Program Director, she streamlined and restructured the ArtsLink Awards program, co-directed the acclaimed internet/residency go_HOME, and developed and produced Flipside, the exhibition and catalogue celebrating 12 years of ArtsLink exchanges. She came to New York from San Francisco where she was Director of Operations and Interim Executive Director at Headlands Center for the Arts, a then newly formed international artists’ residency. She has moderated and participated in public panels both in the US and in Europe concerning artists’ communities and broad visual and performing arts issues. One of his early still images was the shot of Alfred Hitchcock posing for his camera. After moving to NY, he soon became involved in the New York independent film scene such as: Misplaced 1990 (featuring John Cameron Mitchell, Hedwig and Angry Inch). At Deauville he won the 1st Prize; The Keeper; On the Run, was an Open Palm Gotham 2000 Award Nominee; Somewhere in the City 1998 (featuring Sandra Bernhard, Bai Ling, Ornela Mutti, and Peter Stormare, HBO), and Peroxide Passion (Silver medal at the Houston 2001 FF). Igor also shot main stream movies such as Tripwire 1989 (Terence Know, David Warner, Viggo Mortensen), and Cop Land (IInd Unit) 1989 (Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Harvey Keitel). From 1991 to 1995, Igor shot Mercy of the Sea 2002 (starring Martin Sheen), and Cetverored 1999. While in Europe he shot Il Giardino Armonico (PBS). As a student at New College, Oxford, he was a member of a band called The Jazz Insects, whose first single was played by John Peel in his radio show. Black is widely regarded as one of the most innovative people in the new sphere of AudioVisual performance - his legendary AV tracks include "Timber" by Coldcut and Hexstatic as well as early involvement in the classic rave VJ series Xmix. Black is one of the inventors of the VJamm software used in the Coldcut live show. He is also a founding member of the (now defunct) VJ group Hex, and of the VJ group The VJamm Allstars with whom he continues to perform shows. Active in politics, literature and art, Ćosić has exhibited, published, and been active since 1994. He is well known for his challenging, ground-breaking work as a pioneer in the field of net.art. His constantly evolving oeuvre is characterized by an interesting mix of philosophical, political, and conceptual network-related issues on the one hand, and an innovative feeling for contemporary urban and underground aesthetics on the other. One of the pioneers of net.art, Ćosić became interested in ASCII code during a long period of research (1996–2001) on low-tech aesthetics, the economy, ecology and archaeology of the media, on the intersections between text and computer code, on the use of spaces in information, its fluid nature and infinite convertibility. Out of this came History of Art for the Blind, ASCII Unreal (an art game), ASCII Camera, ASCII Architecture, Deep ASCII and ASCII History of Moving Images, a history of the cinema converted into text format.[2] He is a co-founder of Nettime, Syndicate, 7-11, and Ljubljana Digital Media Lab. The most notable venues, among many others, include Videotage, Hong Kong; Media Artlab, Tel Aviv; Venice Biennial; MIT Medialab; Walker Center, Minneapolis; Postmasters, NYC; Kunsthalle, Vienna; LAMoCA, Los Angeles; ICA, London and Beaubourg, Paris. One of his most recent works is the File Extinguisher, an online service that allows you to delete your files with absolute certainty. He has been involved in many projects and ventures in the field of digital and net art since 1994, including co-founding Ljudmila, a digital media lab for artists in Slovenia. Jack is part of artist's collective thickear with whom he created Ministry of Measurement, Pink Sheet Method and initiated the Data and Ethics Working Group at ICT & Art Connect 2013, Brussels. Which lead a to string of European engagements including Experiment #2 Consent exhibited at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam. He is also a member of the band Githead with Wire's Colin Newman and Malka Spigel and Max Franken from Minimal Compact. Rimbaud is also a writer and media critic, multi-media artist and record producer. Born in Southfields, London, Scanner attended Kingston University in Surrey, earning a degree in Modern Arts (BA). For 2003, he installed a permanent installation in Raymond Poincaré hospital in Garches, France as part of the bereavement suite Channel of Flight. In 2004, Tate Modern commissioned Sound Surface in collaboration with Stephen Vitiello as their first sonic arts work. In the same year, he composed Europa 25, an alternative National Anthem for Europe that was freely distributed via 10,000 CDs and a website. He sound-designed Aitan Errusi's new British horror film Reverb. In 2007 he soundtracked British filmmaker Steve McQueen's film installation Gravesend, at the 52nd Venice Biennial. In 2008 he was President of Honour at the Qwartz Music Awards in Paris, and scored the musical comedy Kirikou & Karaba in Paris. He premiered his six-hour performance show, Of Air and Eye at the Royal Opera House London in late 2008, and sound-designed the new Philips Wake-Up Light with Philips Electronics in NL, a lamp to wake you up with natural light and sound. His BBC radio production of Jean Cocteau's The Human Voice won the Prix Marulic Award and recently, he won First Prize Neptun Water Prize for his installation Wishing Well in Austria, in collaboration with Austrian artist Katarina Matiasek. Nebojsa enrolled Post graduated study of philosophy in 2006 at the Croatian studies in Zagreb but 2007 he returned in Faculty of Humanistic studies in Rijeka where he begun with his work.
